About the program

OBJECTIVE: The Kinship Team Leader role is to oversee the delivery of LNAC’s Kinship Program, Minbani Bebe, connecting and reconnecting children in out of home care with family, community and culture.

Conditions of employment covered by the Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation Enterprise Agreement 2018. Salary range starting at $47.33 per hour. Option to salary package a maximum of $15,899 from your gross salary each year; 5 weeks pro rata annual leave per year; and a 35-hour week. Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the effective delivery of all phases of the Minbani Bebe service including; Family Finding, Carer Assessment, and carer support services.
  • Provide positive leadership to ensure staff within the team work together to achieve excellence.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and mentoring support to staff and promote quality care practices;
  • Management of the day-to-day running of the program to ensure service delivery in compliance with our grant funding agreement, WHS and LNAC’s policies & procedures;
  • Organise or assist with procurement and other activities necessary to ensure quality and timely delivery of goods, services, events and community activities;
  • Ensure positive and productive relationships with colleagues, clients and key service providers;
  • Work collaboratively with DCF in the management of the funded activities and the day to day operational work
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders including DCF and the community services sector;
  • Promote the activities of the program to other key service providers and the community
  • Ensure maintenance of records of referrals, progress of work, and operational plans are up to date;
  • Prepare required reports of progress and performance;
  • Cooperate with other LNAC programs and employees in order to achieve the overall goals of the Corporation;
  • Maintain respect for Larrakia people and Larrakia Country
  • Participate in training and professional development activities;
  • Other position related duties as directed by the Family Services Manager

Key Selection Criteria

  •  Demonstrated experience in program management, including financial management and reporting, and delivery of services according to contractual obligations 
  • A qualification relevant to Human Services such as Social Work or a Diploma in relevant human services
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of case work in Foster and Kinship Care programs
  • Applied knowledge and understanding of the Child Care and Protection System with the ability to work and communicate decisions within statutory framework for practice
  • Using a practice framework that is family focussed. child centred and culturally safe
  • Practical experience in program, staff management, case management and stakeholder management
  • Provide guidance and mentoring support and promote quality care practices
  • Understanding of cultural protocols, apply culturally safe practices together with a willingness to work respectfully in accordance with Larrakia and other Indigenous culture
  • A valid Working with Children (OCHRE) Card, and current National Police check
  • NT Driver’s License (C Class)
